The Municipal Agriculture Office (MAO), in coordination with the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Regional Office 02 (BFAR-RO 2), is currently conducting the Training on Seaweeds Processing and Fish Smoking at the FITS Center, Centro, Lal-lo, Cagayan which will last until tomorrow, August 29, 2014.
Said training is participated by the Rural Improvement Club (RIC) led by their ever active and supportive Federation President, Hon. Maria Olivia B. Pascual, the Board Member of the 1st Congressional District of the Province of Cagayan.
According to BM Olive, the idea of having the training came up from BFAR-RO 2 Regional Director Jovy Jayson’s visit during the birthday celebration of the former
The trainers from BFAR-RO 2 include Ms. Proserfina Reyno, Ms. Divince de los Santos, Ms. Josephine Garcia and Ms. Mary Jane dela Cruz. The participants, in the two-day training will be taught fish smoking and to make chips, pickles, canton noodles and maja blanca out of seeweeds.
Mr. Jimmy Bacuyag, the Municipal Agriculturist stated in his opening message that the challenge now to the participants is to put their learning into action, quoting the popular adage, ‘It takes two to tango’.
BM Olive backed this challenge and committed to give her all-out support to RIC in order for this project to succeed.
