Said training course is a product of the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Lal-lo’s strengthened commitment to widen the scope of its rescue measures by tapping volunteers from the various barangays of the municipality. This is also in line with the celebration of the National Disaster Consciousness Month (NDCM) this July by virtue of Executive Order No. 137 dated August 10, 1999 with the theme: “Kahandaan at Kaligtasan ng Pamayanan, Pundasyon ng Kaunlaran”.
The thirty-five (35) barangays of the municipality were divided into seven (7) batches as follows:

Batch 2 July 01 Abagao, Bical, San Juan,

Batch 3 July 02 Centro, San Antonio, Fabrica,

During the training course, the volunteers were able to gain knowledge on Basic First Aid & Basic Rescue from the members of the Lal-lo Rescue Team 35 and Basic Fire Fighting Techniques from BFP personnel headed by the Acting Municipal Fire Marshall FO3 Joseph Ridoloso.
Engr. Leopoldo A. Colosaga, Jr., the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Officer (MENRO) gave an overview on Disaster Risk Reduction Management and Climate Change Adaptation (DRRM/CCA) while Executive Assistant II Simeon O. Israel, Jr. shared some wisdom on volunteerism and citizenship and briefly discussed the “Lal-lo We Care Program” which is a joint project of the LGU and Globe Telecom. It is primarily a mechanism devised as a response to the growing need of a more formidable communication system intended for the delivery of emergency services and quick response to calamities, disasters, accidents and emergency cases.
These times when calamity unpleasantly surprises us with their disturbing occurrences, it is highly important to instill the right knowledge, promptness and valor to our people.
