
For the past five (5) years, the Municipality of Lal-lo has consistently manifested exemplary performance in the implementation of its nutrition programs which was rewarded with the numerous recognitions from the nutrition council in the provincial, regional and national level.
This year, Lal-lo was among the three (3) Local Government Units (LGUs) in the country along with Maasin City, Southern City in Region VIII and Ifugao Province in the Cordillera Administrative Region, who are vying for the Nutrition Honor Award (NHA), the highest award conferred by the National Nutrition Council (NNC).

The National Evaluation Team (NET) headed by no less than Maria Bernardita T. Flores, CESO II, the Assistant Secretary of Health and the Executive Director of NNC arrived at the municipality on May 19, 2014 and was welcomed by Mayor Florante C. Pascual, Board Member Maria Olivia B. Pascual, and the members of the Municipal Nutrition Committee headed by the Municipal Nutrition Action Officer, Maria Concepcion B. Abbang, M.D., with a short program at the Lal-lo Multi-Purpose Hall. Other members of the inter-agency NET were
Mayor Pascual strongly pointed, during the presentation of the nutrition situation in the municipality, that “…here in the Municipality of Lal-lo, we never cease and we never get tired of improving and innovating, especially when it concerns the health of all Lal-loquenos.”
The evaluating team chose five (5) barangays randomly which were Sta. Maria, Alaguia, San Juan, Tucalana, and Logac. The evaluation started on May 20, 2014 and commenced with a feedbacking on May 22, 2014.
With mostly positive reviews, the entire municipality could only hope for the best. If, with any luck Lal-lo wins, it will already be included in the list of Hall of Famers and will be receiving the award at Malacañang by no less than the President himself, His Excellency Benigno Aquino, Jr. October of this year. If it doesn’t, then it doesn’t. Just what Mayor Pascual pointed out, awards are just bonuses. What is more essential is that we are able to do our job and help our people towards better health and nutrition.
