The Municipal Nutrition Committee (MNC) conducted the 2nd Batch Roll-out Training – Promote Good Nutrition on Infant and Young Child Feeding on January 20-24, 2014 at the Lal-lo Multi-Purpose Hall which was attended by Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNS), Barangay Health Workers (BHW) and Mother Leaders from the different barangays of the municipality which include Cabayabasan, Bicud, San Lorenzo, Catayauan, Bagumbayan, Jurisdiction, Bangag, Fusina and Tucala.
Said training is part of the Accelerated Hunger-Mitigation Program: Promote Good Nutrition Component which is a joint undertaking of the National Nutrition Council (NNC), which funded the entire training and the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Lal-lo through its MNC.
Maria Concepcion Abbang, M.D., Municipal Health Officer/Municipal Nutrition Action Officer, Kristine Michelle Tabaco, R.N., Mayline Urcia, R.M., Ronalyn Borja, R.M., Leticia Israel, R.M., and Rowena Articulo, R.M., employees of the Rural Health Unit (RHU) served as resource speakers during the training.
The 5-day training focused on the importance of the proper feeding of infants and young children. According to the World Health Organization, “undernutrition is associated with 45% of child deaths, and globally in 2012, 162 million children under five were estimated to be stunted and almost 100 million had low weight-for-height, mostly as a consequence of poor feeding and repeated infections; 44 million were overweight or obese.” These statistics were found to be alarming so the LGU continues to develop and spearhead programs/projects to educate our health workers so they can easily provide assistance to mothers and their children, this training being one of those.
The training aims to equip the barangay implementers with the proper and sufficient knowledge on ways to promote good nutrition in their respective barangays, as well as to prevent malnutrition among infants through exclusive breastfeeding, and ultimately, to improve the status of health and nutrition of the people of Lal-lo.

The Municipal Park has transformed into a stunning one. All trees are all spectacular as they shimmer with their own lights. Their varied decors all go together in a harmony of a peace to a serene night. All corners worth a while to be adored and to be loved.
On one hand, the gymnasium turned into an amusing paradise.
As the door welcomes you, you’ll be greeted with a flavorful candy- shop. It’s no ordinary candy- shop though. Guess what? It’s specially made for children, for adults and for you! Are you not a sweet tooth? Come! And you will surely be one craving for flavorful Christmas candies.
Christmas pictures a season of peace and unity, a time for togetherness as each member of the family comes to rest in each other’s warmth and tender love. This is one occasion that each of us remember the value of goodness as we realize the biggest blessing one can ever have- the birth of our savior Jesus Christ. It’s the best time for our hearts to let go of all hatred and painful bearings and replace it with holiness and praise instead. All come as one to honor and recognize the presence of God in our lives. With this cause we show our gratitude to Him as we celebrate in every way we think best.
We share our blessings through gift giving. Some touch hearts to show love. Lights and lanterns are spread and lit everywhere. We feast our eyes and stomachs in food- covered tables. And specially, we wear our best as we all go to His Holy Church for the Simbang Gabi.
What is even more special is to know that Christmas is for EVERYONE. From all walks of life, people are one and the same in the eyes of Christmas. Anyone can dream of his Santa Claus, you may be a child or not. Everyone can sing a carol! It exempts no one. Indeed, Christmas is everywhere because every place has its own ways of celebrating the Yuletide season.
This is very true especially in the Municipality of Lal- lo, Cagayan! It makes sure that “It’s really more fun in the Municipality of Lal- lo” every Christmas.
Now in its third year, the municipality is attracting tourists by its very grand and special celebration of Christmas– the showcase of a Mini- Christmas Village!
But wait, you might want to know how the idea of this Mini- Christmas Village was born?
Well, thanks to its ever dedicated and hard-working leaders, Mayor Florante “Anteng” C. Pascual and wife, former Mayor and First District Board Member Maria Olivia B. Pascual. They are the initiating heads behind the success and fame of Lal-lo when it comes to Christmas celebration.
And more thanks to the envy- motivated BM Olive. She was the mind behind the conception of this activity.
