Little did they know that the house where the mother lives is in the middle of a farm. It seems like the odds were all against the team – the ambulance do not have a way to go directly to the house, the 2 rescuers cannot carry her alone, and the baby is about to come out. But, through ‘bayanihan’, which is the very core of the ‘Lal-lo We Care Program’, all’s well that ends well.
The very kind neighbors of the family were the ones who carried her to the ambulance. They were about to bring her to the birthing center but upon getting the necessary information regarding her, the midwives decided to bring her to the nearest hospital instead. Mrs. Lea Baloran, at a very young age of 29 years old, had already experienced three (3) pregnancies (this one included). Her first born lived for only four (4) days. The second, she suffered miscarriage. Her pregnancy was at a high risk and her blood pressure was high at 150/90.
The ‘Lal-lo We Care Program’ is admittedly an ambitious one – taxing in all aspects. It requires commitment, hard work and willpower. When it was launched barely a year ago, there were loopholes that were identified. It isn’t perfect. Nothing is. But the good thing is, the Local Government Unit of Lal-lo is continuously working to make the program a better one and to serve the people in a more efficient way.
Once a dream, now a reality. This is because of our committed, hardworking and very efficient rescuers, midwives, nurses, doctors, drivers, and all the other groups and individuals who have helped in the realization of the program.
In spite of the stolen moments with your loved ones on weekends and holidays, of the times that you have to stomach the pain of seeing firsthand the tragedies that you respond to, of the instances that you have to see the suffering of those that were left behind, of all those sleepless nights, of all the points of too much body pain that even salonpas can’t cure, and in all those times you have to maintain your composure, you delivered and served your best.
Kudos to all of you! Your dedication is truly inspiring. #Bec
