With the wonderful music created by the different drum and lyre corps, the colourful costumes of the opening parade contingents, and the chattering sounds of the zealous spectators all-together created that festive mood, the opening day of the 433rdPatronal Town Fiesta and 14th Cabibi Festival was indeed a resounding success.
Giving credit to where credit is all due, the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Lal-lo commenced the five-day celebration through a thanksgiving mass on July 31, 2014 at six o’clock in the morning in honor of St. Dominic de Guzman, the town’s Patron Saint, for all the continued blessings and guidance that the municipality had received for the previous year. It was presided by Rev. Fr. Nathaniel Malana, Parish Priest of St. Dominic de Guzman Parish Church.
The Opening Parade, participated by forty-four (44) contingents excluding the LGU family followed after. The participants, with their fabulous costumes and fantastic headdresses, assembled at the LGU grounds paraded along the streets of Barangays Bagumbayan, Centro, and San Jose. The contingents, all vying for the coveted prizes, entertained the audience with their joyful chants. Respected membersof the academe served as members of the esteemed board of judges namely, Mrs. Olivia Marigza, Mrs. Maricel Dantic, Mrs. Gayline Narag, Domingo Perocho, Ph.D., Mr. Bernard Liban, Mrs. Mervina Caranguian, Leo Casauay, Ph.D., Mr. Jeremias Sirriban and Mr. Abraham Pigao, Jr..
Lal-lo South District bagged the Most Disciplined award while the Lal-lo National High School was adjudged as Best in Pakulo and Best in Headdress/Costume/Outfit.
After the parade, a short program was made to formally open this year’s fiesta celebration by no less than Vice Mayor Florence Oliver B. Pascual.The five (5) hardworking and highly-efficient Directors-General – Mrs. Dolores P. Dela Cruz, Venancio R. Corpuz, Ph.D., Mr. Daniel T. Aguidan, Mrs. Emelita P. Collado, and Mrs. Merlyn M. Golino – of the 433rd Patronal Town Fiesta and 14th Cabibi Festival,the Principals of the five (5) secondary schools in the municipality, were presented and duly recognized for all their efforts in overseeing the entire preparation for said festivities.
The ceremonial lighting of the festival torch graced by Board Member Maria Olivia B. Pascual, Vice Mayor Florence Oliver B. Pascual, and all the SB Members present during the event, ended the program.
