The affair was preceded by a mass officiated by Rev. Fr. Nathaniel Malana of the St. Dominic Parish. In his homily, he cited the teachers as heroes as teaching is the mother of all professions.
On the other hand, Mayor Florante C. Pascual congratulated the teachers as he conveyed his appreciation to the continuing support of the school heads and teachers in all the development programs of the municipality. He also apprised the group of the forthcoming development projects for the year.
Meanwhile, Vice-Mayor Oliver B. Pascual extolled the teachers’ work as it is a sacrifice requiring their continuing patience. For their effort, Vice- Mayor Pascual commended the teachers for the transforming influence they have made in their students’ life.
The awarding of the outstanding school heads and teachers for both elementary and secondary levels highlighted the afternoon session (see separate news story).
Prior to that, Board Member Maria Olivia B. Pascual mentioned that it was during her term as Municipal Mayor that she signed an ordinance setting December 8 each year as Municipal Teachers’ Day. This year, however, the inclement weather in December 2015 forced its rescheduling the following month.
BM Olive stressed that LGU Lal-lo has been blessed with the cooperation extended by the schools. Without the teachers’ support, LGU would never succeed in its programs.
To spice the celebration, teachers from the different schools and districts performed folk dances. The parlor games that followed made the celebration even more exciting and fun to the attendees. #bec
