38 year-old mommy Angelyn from Barangay Lalafugan was admitted at 1:30 PM, underwent labor for less than two (2) hours and at exactly 3:05 PM, the world welcomed a bouncing baby boy. According to Nurse Kristine, the easy delivery is attributed to the fact that it’s the fifth time that the mother underwent the same process.
The baby was delivered by Maria Concepcion B. Abbang, MD with midwives Wilmadona Pagulayan and Carla-Lizette Areola. Nurse Kristine Michelle Tabaco, Nurse Sheryll Castueras and Nurse Vanessa Adversalo were also there to assist. When asked if the team felt any anxiety or pressure, they said they were more excited than worried.
An hour later, 28 year-old Karen Gacias Acoba from Barangay Catugan was admitted. It took her about seven hours to deliver the baby. Dr. Abbang along with midwives Rowena Articulo and Sharon Becker made sure the baby was delivered safe and healthy. They were assisted by Nurse Kristine, Nurse Sheryll and Nurse Lux Mae dela Cruz. Mommy Karen gave birth to her second child with daddy Noriel Acoba. They named him Fritz Harvey.
The following day, Board Member Maria Olivia B. Pascual visited the newborn babies with their families. As a health advocate, she was clearly ecstatic of the news that she even gave a substantial amount of money to each of the families for the needs of the babies.
With the tremendous effort which the stakeholders have put forth to open the Birthing Center, it is truly groundbreaking to have the first child born yesterday. For the residents, it is comforting to know that free maternity services are now readily available in our very own hometown where they can enjoy the convenience and great care offered by the enthusiastic staff of RHU Lal-lo with the help of the Rescue 35.
The opening of the Birthing Center is still part of the Lal-lo “We Care” Program – a mechanism devised to ensure that our people would have easier, faster, and more reliable access to the services offered by the LGU.
This is just another step towards building better and more progressive ways to serve the people. #Bec Bautista
