Mrs. Gemma R. Pascual and Mr. Ferdinand Bulusan of CSU Lal-lo will attend the 12th International Asia Teaching English as a Foreign language Conference and the 23rd Malaysia English Language Teachers Association International Conference. It will be held in Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia from August 28 – 30, 2014.
The international conference aims to share, discuss, and deliberate on the issue of ensuring sustainable quality in English language education that takes cognizance the changing nature of the English language, its transforming purpose, its use in changing contexts and its role in reframing transnational communication.
Their research, “Breadth and Depth of Productive Vocabulary of English as a Second Language Learners,” was accepted for paper presentation. It explicated the level of vocabulary students have developed from their English language exposure.
Moreover, the two faculty members will have a poster presentation of another study, “Swardspeak in the Philippine Context: A Morphological Analysis.” It describes how gay individuals uniquely formulate vocabulary and organize their ideas in speaking.
“We are very appreciative of the financial help LGU Lal-lo has extended for our travel. Its concern for faculty welfare and development in the municipality is once more demonstrated,” the two grateful CSU faculty remarked.
Mr. Bulusan is a regular fixture in LGU events as he is asked to emcee programs. He writes articles for the official LGU publication and is a broadcast volunteer at the town’s community radio, DWRL 95.1 FM.
